Valle delle Ferriere hike is a beautiful historical walk surrounded by waterfalls, dramatic landscapes and a lavish vegetation which inspired painters and writers who sought the hidden beauty and solitary walks.

The name Ferriere comes from a Foundry sited into the middle of the Valley, used to produce iron for the region.

We offer 2 walking options:

1. Easy

Nice hike to the lower side of Valle delle Ferriere, also called Valle dei Mulini (Valley of the Mills), suitable for families (kids friendly), or people who don’t want to do a challenging hike but love to enjoy Nature and History.

The tour starts from the Medieval Village of Pontone and ends in Amalfi. At the end of the hike we can admire the beautiful lemon yards of Amalfi and there is a possibility to visit the Paper Museum (an ancient paper mill that has been converted into a museum) where you can experience how to create paper as it was made in the past.

After the Museum, we walk into the Historic Centre of Amalfi where we can do a short break to taste sfogliatella or delizia , the famous pastries of the Amalfi Coast and Naples. It is Possible to combine this hike with a walking tour of Amalfi and Ravello which is considered a Full Day Tour.

2. Average

Challenging for experienced avid hikers. It’s a hike along the Upper Side of Valle delle ferriere and it passes through waterfalls. We can admire Amalfi from above but we need to be really careful as there are some dangerous sections with cliffs. This hike starts from the Medieval Village of Pontone and ends in Pogerola.

At the end of this hike we can stop into a very nice restaurant and if you are brave enough we can walk downtown Amalfi through an old and long Muletrack.
