While British have a cup of tea at 5pm, Italian(s) prefer having a drink.
Aperitivo is the best way to enjoy the Afterwork and also the great excuse to drink and meet friends.
Even if everyone has a mobile phone, here in Italy and especially in the small towns of the Amalfi Coast, we don’t call friends to go out… we just go into the bar and enjoy meeting everyone, because there’s always someone to see into the bars and to have fun with. Sometimes going into a bar in Italy could be a good idea for tourists to discover our lifestyle and be friend to a local who loves telling stories.
Many people has asked me which was my favorite bar.
Well, I don’t have just one and here’s a list of where I go with friends (or alone):
Bar Internazionale: this place could not be called a simple bar but it’s The Bar. It’s situated in Chiesa Nuova neighborhood, where I always start my walking tours of Positano and the bar is a necessary step for my tour. Internazionale is open all year long and from 7am to midnight, it’s a place hired by Mimì, Virginia and all their sons and daughters. During the day you can enjoy italian breakfast, pastries and sandwiches while after 5pm it’s a good place to meet local people and have fun! I worked here before becoming a guide and I remember that during winter Luigi (son and bar tender) taught me how to prepare excellent drinks. I spend here lots of my winter days, I love drinking a spritz or sbagliato (Luigi’s special version of the spritz).
Bar Intenazionale, Via Guglielmo Marconi 306, Positano
La Brezza: a net art cafè with good food, great drinks and wifi. It’s a beautiful bar on the beach and the best sport of the guys from La Brezza is “never let you pass nearby without having a drink into your hand”! Naty and Roby, the owners, are very fun and we love going there after 5pm. You start drinking and finish drinking but it’s a good place to eat too! My favorite drink here is Brezzito, their personal version of mojito but bar tenders love to surprise you with new cocktails. This could be a great option for a drink after the beach or for dinner.

Franco’s: it’s a good spot for a special occasion! Franco’s, the new bar of Hotel Le Sirenuse, offers a great spot (a magnificent view on the center of Positano) and old fashioned drinks that brings you back to the past or let you feel living into a movie. My favorite cocktail here is La Dolce vita (Bombay sapphire gin, pomegranade, lime and prosecco), not because I feel like Anita Ekberg but because I love gin!
